It's been a long, cold winter and now come the rewards. Sunshine, infinite possibilities and new fascinations. I have one of those. New fascinations that is, courtesy of Ali, who has been gently encouraging me in the direction of living out one of my favourite metaphors.
"Creating the threads to fly" is my Best Self/Life Purpose affirmation from my Life Map (a whole other posting to come...) and it means a great deal to me. Bringing people together, weaving the strands of my life and work, creating a peacock magic carpet resplendent with the bright colours of serenity and adventure. You get the picture. I do, most of the time, when I am on purpose. It's a canvas very much in progress.
So...anyway. I used to be a dab hand with a sewing machine, but that was in a whole other life. I had an A-Type approach to it, for all the girly overtones. For me, it was about running up a garment that could pass for Designer at a fraction of the cost and as quickly as possible. Goal as Outcome as opposed to Goal as Reason for the Journey. I abandoned the interest when I had enough money and too little time to remain attached to it. Pity. I missed out on the best bit in my rat-racer haste.
Which I now find is the thrill of the tiny stitch in just the right place, for no reason other than it just IS. Dear Reader, I have joined the ranks of those who embroider and I am keen to open your eyes to some pretty neatly stitched life lessons gleaned from my very first encounter with that art and craft.
Masculine sensibilities need not click away. Think Zen and The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. Think All I Know of Life I Learnt From My X-Box. There's goodies for all here...
