What's missing?
If you have read my book you will know that my coaching philosophy is based around focusing on what you want more of in your life, rather than what you don't currently have. Eliminate a bad habit by crowding it out with a good one. Look for the opportunity in the challenge, not the problem. Give more to get more.
This isn't Pollyanna positive thinking; it's simple learned common sense. (And I'm currently delighted to find this philosophy of mine has a lot of back-up in something that is creating a quiet revolution amongst those who have stumbled across the secret - I'm talking about the The Laws of Attraction, of which more, much more in a future posting.) When I operate from a place of gratitude and act as if I already have the thing or the solution that I am after, it seems to create the right conditions, more often than not. And I get what I want...

What wants to change?
As a coach I firmly believe in setting a positive intent when it comes to goals. Sometimes you have to recognise that things are a "need" or a "must" for change. And then put yourself in the way of giving yourself every support to carry it through. Because, as Mae West so rightly said, I can resist everything but temptation. There's a special delight, though, when you find that you actually "want" to make a change that you have been struggling with and then things suddenly get very easy indeed. This just happened with me and the demon drink...

Who are you when no one is looking?
Integrity, like all values, is open to interpretation. Think of honour amongst thieves, or the slippery scale of honesty in the political world. You might have been shocked by a friend's definition of integrity displayed in their actions. You might yourself balk at telling even a little white lie where you will cheerfully take an extra five minutes on a lunch break at work. The point is, it's your value and you know the rules. Your inner coach keeps you on track and helps you get with the programme. But it's odd how easy it can be to break your own rules when you think no-one is looking. What on earth is that about then?
